A long-running personal blog shared by two authors with completely different approaches to life. And a lot of large, beautiful photographs of dogs and nature and places we've traveled to. Rich in commentary and irreverant in style.

We started blogging a long time ago. Our work hours never aligned with recommended psychotherapists and we needed to get our thoughts out. We are great friends, total opposites and long-time housemates. This was a way to communicate. With each other. With strangers. With consumer marketers. With sub-par meteorologists. With distant friends who wanted to see pictures of stuff we were up to.

This is the place. Our bucket of thoughts to share. You are welcome.
(We realize that most of you are here for the dog pictures.)

Stopping Traffic

Tonight my friend Don invited me to join him for a road rally in DC. It was the "DC Slingshot Takeover." It was great. For those that don't already know, a Slingshot is a three wheeled vehicle made by Polaris. It is technically considered a motorcycle - but it looks a lot like a Batmobile.

If you were to have found me at this event you could have just asked "where's that white girl?" I mean, I am usually the whitest person in any group - but I was humorously white in this group.

These people could not have cared less about all that. They were the nicest, most charming group I have been around in a long, long time. Perfect strangers approached you with HUGE smiles and introduced themselves engagingly, but it was all about the Slingshots and no two were alike. I can't even begin to explain the level of customization that each and every owner has invested into their individual vehicle appearance. Each had different lighting, sound, exterior wrap, audio and visual systems. One guy was said to have installed a $9,000 speaker system. ($9k!!!wtf???) It was insanity. But seeing them all in action was fantastic.

We started the Rally in Southeast DC and traveled past RFK, down H street and through Chinatown to end up at Cities which is a club I used to go to as a high school senior (1 million years ago) on 19th and K. We had a full motorcycle escort along the way - they would just stop ALL TRAFFIC trying to cross us (I hope I can have this when my funeral ever happens). You have never seen anything so well orchestrated. It was like an offensive motorcycle ballet.

I have spent most of my life on the other side of these blockades hating the arrogance of these guys taking unlawful command of traffic. But today I was delighted by it! Downright giddy. I am a total hypocrite and I loved it, hahah. Enough talk - here are the photos.
