A long-running personal blog shared by two authors with completely different approaches to life. And a lot of large, beautiful photographs of dogs and nature and places we've traveled to. Rich in commentary and irreverant in style.

We started blogging a long time ago. Our work hours never aligned with recommended psychotherapists and we needed to get our thoughts out. We are great friends, total opposites and long-time housemates. This was a way to communicate. With each other. With strangers. With consumer marketers. With sub-par meteorologists. With distant friends who wanted to see pictures of stuff we were up to.

This is the place. Our bucket of thoughts to share. You are welcome.
(We realize that most of you are here for the dog pictures.)

The Heart of the Matter

NaBloPoMo Theme of the Day: Describe your house from the perspective of your pet.

A month ago I was a mostly starved street rescue that had been returned to the shelter because I was "hard to train."

Now, I live in a house of tall furniture where people continually sit on the floor to have long conversations with me. There is an absurd amount of meat - at this very moment - in the cooled metal cabinet in the front room. Women follow me everywhere. I get hugs for absolutely no reason. There is a dog bed in literally every room. Food just falls like rain at times from the counters. Guests stay overnight and bring their dogs. They have BOXES of bones that are yet unopened. I have been to the dog park TWICE today. All anyone wants me to do is sit on their lap and let them scratch my stomach. I have like 12 bones. I have no idea what I did to deserve all this... but I'm not ever giving it up.

“A dog reflects the family life. Whoever saw a frisky dog in a gloomy family, or a sad dog in a happy one? Snarling people have snarling dogs, dangerous people have dangerous ones.”
Arthur Conan Doyle, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes

“I believe in integrity. Dogs have it. Humans are sometimes lacking it.”
 Cesar Millan
